I would like to start this unorthodox post by saying that I’ve really had fun and learned a lot while writing for Lifestyles of the Organized during the past six and a half months. When I started this blog in October, I never knew where it would go. But I can say with assurance that it has exceeded my expectations.

Does this sound like a resignation speech? Well, it isn’t–at least not exactly. You see, I’ve developed hand and wrist tendinitis over the last few months. At first I thought I could just cut back a little and make some changes to my ergonomics setup. For example, I am dictating this post using Microsoft’s voice recognition software (which is pretty cool by the way).

The problem is, the only thing that really cures tendinitis is rest. I’ve been avoiding this conclusion for some time because it requires drastic changes in my day to day life (i.e. we use our hands for everything). But I want to get better, so that means I need to do what I need to do.

Of course, I couldn’t approach this issue without doing a little organizing. In deciding what sorts of changes I was going to implement, I made a few lists. I wrote down all the major ways I use my hands aggressively throughout the day and prioritized them. Unfortunately, Lifestyles of the Organized was one of those activities I decided to cut–at least for now. I plan to go on a hiatus from most activities that involve the computer because that seems to be the main source of my tendinitis. How long this will be I do not know and neither does my doctor. All I know is that healing requires rest.

What does this mean for the future of Lifestyles of the Organized? After my hiatus of undetermined length I will reevaluate my priorities and see if I can return. Until then I just want to focus on getting better.

Thank you to my loyal readers who have made writing about all things organization that much more fun. Until next time! 🙂

Today I have the privilege of guest posting on the awesome Organizing Your Way blog. Mandi asked me to talk about how my Friday series, Mission: Appliances, has been going. The timing is perfect, because I’m exactly half way through the series. In addition to inviting me to discuss how I came up with the idea in the first place, she also asked me to share what I’ve learned so far.

So head on over the Organizing Your Way blog and check out my post!

Today I am excited to announce that I have been featured as a guest poster at The Smart Passive Income Blog! This blog is one of my favorites–I visit it regularly to get inspiration and advice about legitimately earning passive income from home. You should check it out!

The author of The SPI Blog, Pat, asked me to write a post while he was away on his honeymoon in Hawaii (nice!) so I worked up an article about one of my newer endeavors: writing for the comprehensive how-to website, eHow.

I joined eHow back in November and have already written over 100 articles. The coolest thing is, anyone can write and articles earn money based on people clicking the related advertisements. It’s been a rewarding form of passive income so far and I hope to continue to write more articles in the future.

As for my guest post, of course I had to write about organization. 🙂 So head on over to this great blog to read my post, “Earn More Money by Organizing Your eHow Workflow.”

Let’s play blog tag

Abigail from i pick up pennies has graciously ‘tagged’ my blog! She blogs about dealing with debt and managing good spending habits, all from the perspective of being newly married.

What does ‘being tagged‘ mean, you ask? Here are the rules:

1. Link to the tagger and provide the tag rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blogs.

Tag, I’m it – 7 tidbits about me

1. I used to be a Park Ranger Naturalist for the National Park Service. Yep I wore one of those cool hats. Come on, you know you want one. Oh, and I loved my job. I got to hike in the mountains for a living. And my boss assigned me to organize the brochure warehouse if you can imagine that.

2. I have an fat orange tabby named Oliver. He tries my patience when I’m laboring to clean up after him, but whenever I need a kitty in my lap, he’s there.

3. I’m a musician. I play the piano, flute, and guitar. I also sing. I love music.

4. I grow orchids. One is blooming now and it is just gorgeous. Plants brighten my day.

5. I wrote almost 100 papers in college, more than half of which were in Spanish. Needless to say, I had to take a long break from writing before attempting it again. But I enjoy it and am glad to be back.

6. I’ve taken close to 40,000 digital pictures within the last 5 years. Yep, I have a large hard drive.

7. I love all sorts of food, but give me a good steak cooked rare on the grill and I’ll be as happy as a clam.

Tag, you’re it – 7 blogs I follow:

1. Simple Mom – Live simply, stay sane. Life hacks for home managers.

2. Blissfully Domestic – Your life. Your bliss.

3. Declutter It! – Declutter and organize your life, home, and office.

4. Unclutterer – Getting and staying organized. A place for everything, and everything in its place.

5. The Nifty Thrifty Homemaker – Saving money and spending wisely.
